Certain Rise for SILVAN STÂNCEL

The year that's about to end has most certainly been a full year for many of us, but at artistic level the town of Alba Iulia has gained yet another "Man with a guitar" trophy, should we to mention but one festival. Silvan Stâncel is already a popular name in Alba Iulia. His rise is one most certainly many would envy. It started out as a passion, as a hobby, and ten years later he got on stage with famous names, who offered their unconditional support and admiration for his persistence. As far as Silvan is concerned, his passion for the guitar started out 10 years ago, more exactly in 1996, and two years later he attended various events with his own compositions (book launches, camps etc). In the year 2000 he attended the students' music festival "Nunta de Flori" ("Flowers Wedding") for the first time.

Later, he started having concerts in his local district as well as throughout the country, such as Vama Veche in 2004 and 2006 and in Cluj. In 2006 he was offered by Vali Serban the chance to participate in the National Music Contest "Ziua de Mâine" ("Tomorrow") in Alba Iulia, back then at its second edition. The odds were with him, and he won the grand prize. "This is where it all started", said Silvan, the award and the public motivated him to go on. How far? Enough to skim all grand prizes at all festivals he attended starting from September to December. The second festival he attended was "Omul cu o chitara" ("The man with the guitar") in Braila, where the president of the jury (just as in Alba Iulia) was popular singer Victor Socaciu. The young man from Alba Iulia was designated the best and was handed in the Grand Prize. At the "Bistrita Folk" Festival in November 17-18, Silvan was awarded the jury's Special Award. The Reghin festival "Prima Iubire" ("The First Love") and the one in Bucharest "Om bun" ("The Good Man") brought Silvan the 1st prize and many collaboration offers, including one from an agent… Anyways, who can say the odds are not with him? In two months, he gained five great awards, which seem to open new horizons. "This is the most spectacular rise of a young man in the folk business. Suddenly I do not feel so lonely in Alba Iulia anymore and I am glad for that" Vali Serban said about Silvan Stâncel…
